Coverage of Warranty for Second-Hand Cars for Sales
Most car dealers will sell aftermarket warranty to their clients when they buy one of their used cars for sales to give them coverage in case their vehicle breaks down. But before you do buy one, there are factors that you need to take into consideration.
The first one is what is covered under the warranty. Warranties from manufacturers can cover a large portion of the repairs of their cars but for only a specific period of time like 3 years or so. In extended warranties, the basic coverage will be limited such as minimal coverage for the engine, transmission, water pump, starter motor, and other key components. In a warranty for used cars for sales that are only limited to “break down” of parts, it won’t cover those parts that are broken due to wear and tear. You will need a different warranty for this called “wear and tear” warranty that only covers parts that can break down because of constant use.
Second, consider extra coverage. In a basic warranty for used cars for sales, the coverage is usually limited. If you want to include windshield, breakdown recovery, and such, you will need to upgrade your warranty to cover these add-ons which means you will have to pay something extra.
Third, keep in mind that many warranties don’t cover wearing parts although there are some that include this coverage for the first few months. Most aftermarket warranties don’t include wearing parts even when they are included in replaceable parts. For example, the brake pads are not usually covered even though the brake callipers are. The same goes true for the clutch plate, which is not covered in the warranty, but the clutch unit is.
Fourth, any modifications done to your vehicle may not be covered by the warranty that comes with cars for sales in Adelaide as they are not part of the specifications of the original vehicle. This is tricky so if you don’t want your warranty to be rendered useless, it would be better if you adhere to the contract that you have signed.
